Therapist Profile - Dr. Geoff Lyons
Geoff is a Clinical Psychologist with experience as both an individual and couples counsellor in private practice, as well as in the private hospital and university sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree (Psychology) and a PhD in Clinical Psychology.
Geoff is trained in a range of therapeutic modalities that he draws from depending on the particular needs of each client. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Hakomi Somatic Psychotherapy and Imago Relationships Therapy.
In addition to his clinical work, Geoff holds a tenured position as a lecturer of psychology at the Australian Catholic University where he teaches on a part-time basis. He is also the author of numerous research papers published in peer reviewed journals and publications.
Prior to establishing his private practice, Geoff worked as a mental health professional in a variety of public health settings including: oncology and palliative care units, eating disorder units, general inpatient and outpatient psychiatric units, drug and alcohol residential units, aged-care acute and sub-acute psychiatric units, and child adolescent mental health services.
Geoff is a highly skilled yet easy going therapist.
