Therapist Profile - Istvan Schreiner

Istvan is a Clinical Psychologist and holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), a Masters of Forensic Psychology and a Masters of Clinical Psychology.

Istvan has over 12 years clinical experience both in the private and the public sector, working for organisations such as Northside West and Northside Cremorne private psychiatric clinics, the University of Sydney and various community organisations.

His work experience includes general counselling, neuropsychological assessments, diagnostic assessments, and the design of treatment programs. Istvan has also been involved in research including a large scale study of disadvantaged youth and mass testing in NSW public and private schools to determine the nature of worry in school children.

For the past 6 years Istvan has worked full time in private practice assisting children, adults and couples to overcome a wide range of life’s obstacles including anxiety, mood disorders, anger management and relationship issues.

Istvan is highly experienced in most mainstream psychological modalities, but prefers to use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in his work with individuals, and Systems Theory with couples. In addition to his counselling practice, Istvan is highly skilled in his capacity to provide psychological assessments for children and adults, prepare medico-legal reports for insurers and for legal matters, and conduct diagnostic assessments for major injuries.

While comfortable assessing and treating a wide range of issues, Istvan takes a special interest in educational, clinical, and medico-legal assessment as well as treatment of addictions, depression and anxiety.
