Therapist Profile - Justin Denes
Justin Denes is a Registered Mental Health Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 15 years experience in the mental health field. He holds both a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Psychotherapy (Gestalt Institute), as well as various accreditations in youth work, coaching and domestic violence counselling.
Prior to private practice, Justin worked in the community health and education sectors, supporting both individuals and families with their mental health, grief and addiction concerns. From his time working in hospital psychiatric wards and rehabilitation centres, Justin utilised a range of assessment and intervention strategies for various concerns and demographics, ultimately aiding the development of his individualised approach to therapy today.
As a counsellor, Justin is passionate about developing his clients’ awareness, skills and perspectives through contextualising their concerns within their wider life, and in this way, guiding them to achieve their broader counselling goals. Drawing on a range of modalities, Justin primarily focuses on Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Bowen Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Family Therapy. In his sessions, Justin assists his patients with a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, separation, family relationships, work/peer concerns, friendship issues, men’s mental health, as well as more complex mental health concerns such as trauma and addiction.
Justin is an altruistic and compassionate practitioner, who relies on fostering strong therapeutic relationships to understand his clients’ traumas, repeating themes, relationships, aspirations and histories. Through this, Justin orients individuals to the next steps in life and toward a future of recovery.
