Therapist Profile - Harika Kaynar Okell

Harika is a Registered Psychologist and a member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with many years experience working in the mental health field.

Harika’s journey in the field of psychology has been shaped by diverse clinical environments. She has worked as a psychologist in the disability services sector and as an assistant psychologist in hospital settings and rehabilitation centres. Together, these experiences provide her with the insight to work confidently with a wide range of mental health concerns, from mild to severe. She has experience working with people from all different backgrounds including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) individuals.

Harika assists people with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, addiction, self-esteem challenges, autism, life transition and relationship issues, including the impact of domestic abuse. She also has particular experience working within the disability sector, supporting clients and their families. In addition, Harika has worked with people with neurological and neurocognitive disorders.

Harika uses a Person-Centered and Trauma Informed Approach to counselling with a focus on Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing. Each of these she tailors to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Harika is a warm and empathetic practitioner. Through close collaboration she aims to empower her clients to set and achieve their own goals in a non-judgmental and understanding atmosphere. She is passionate about providing support to people from all backgrounds and is committed to promoting inclusivity.
