Therapist Profile - Esperanza Egan

Esperanza is a degree-qualified psychotherapist who holds a Master of Forensic Mental Health, as well as a Master of Gestalt Therapy from the Gestalt Institute.

Since 2007 Esperanza has worked in private practice and as a member of the NSW Transcultural Mental Health Service. During this time she has also been involved in teaching and running of the Sydney Gestalt Institutes’ Multicultural Clinic.

Psychodynamic in approach, and drawing primarily from Gestalt Therapy, Esperanza has experience helping clients work through grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, anger management and addictions. She works as an individual and couples therapist as well as providing training in psychotherapy. She is also a qualified Clinical Supervisor.

Esperanza provides a supportive environment for her clients to unfold and explore the obstacles in their lives with gentle challenging in a measure commensurate with the client’s increasing capacity for awareness and ownership. Hence the therapy session is at the same time both intensive and gentle.

While Esperanza is comfortable treating most issues, she has a special interest in grief, depression, couples therapy and anger management. Esperanza runs a monthly anger clinic focused on promoting better ways to understand and express your anger, in a supportive setting.
