Therapist Profile - Mary Growth

Mary Growth is a PACFA-Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with over ten years experience in the healthcare industry. Working with both individuals and couples, she holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Western Sydney. She is also currently completing a Masters in Science (Coaching Psychology) at Sydney University. 

Mary began her career in the disability, youth and employment sector, providing solution-focused counselling to individuals looking to grow their personal and professional lives. From her time at non-for-profit and government organisations such as Beyond Blue and FACS, Mary worked with a diverse range of clients presenting with complex presentations such as trauma and addiction, aiding her personalised approach to therapy today.

Moving into private practice, Mary focuses on a person-centred and holistic approach, dedicated to her clients’ progression and therapeutic journey. Mary draws from a range of modalities, including Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy and Gestalt Therapy.

Mary is proficient in working with a broad range of presentations, including depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, anger, confidence and self-esteem, as well as more complex mental health including addiction and childhood trauma. 

Working with couples, Mary aims to create a safe and calm environment to discuss each parties’ concerns, ranging from communication issues, infidelity, stagnation, arguments and trust issues.

Mary is an empathetic and altruistic practitioner, committed to understanding her clients’ needs and concerns, and delving deeper to recognise their origins. Through fostering her patient’s strengths and capabilities, Mary empowers her clients to live more fulfilling lives.
